Heat-up

Heating up a binary mixture of FC-40® / toluene above 140°C in closed glass capillary. Reversible phase transition at high temperatures

Cool-down

Cooling down a binary mixture of FC-40® / toluene in closed glass capillary. Reversible phase separation at low temperatures

Cool and heat

Double emulsion thermomorphous droplets flowing in a capillary outside (top) and inside (bottom) of the heating bath. Cooling and heating takes some time but the phase transition can be seen clearly. (Video not available)

3-phases

Collecting and phase separation of the reaction mixture (colorized example). Orange: organic phase; colorless: catalyst containing FC40 ; blue: water phase
